WHAT IS A HEDGEHOG, AND "WHY"?
Here at Dave's Domestic Hedgehogs we are a 5-star breeder of AFRICAN PYGMY HEDGEHOGS!
We breed all of our babies to be happy, healthy, and comfortable being handled by people.
Let's start with a few basic facts about
African Pygmy Hedgehogs:
Hedgehogs are affectionate and curious little creatures who enjoy being held and loved by people. They are OMNIVOURS which means they eat both plants and meats!
Hedgehogs need to be kept warm. 72 degrees and up is best. Not much warmer than room temp! I sell cages with a small heater and thermostat!
Hedgehogs only live about 4-5 years but seldom need to see a vet and do not require any shots!
Hedgehogs are nocturnal and sleep all day and "party all night"!
You might not want the cage too close to your head at night!
Hedgehogs have QUILLS and not FUR so they are usually considered to be anti-allergenic to those allergic to pet dander.
Hedgehogs grow to be about the size of a hamster!
But Hamsters bite and hedgehogs usually do not!
Male Hedgehogs can not live with other hedgehogs, but females can!
Females can live together and we often sell pairs of girls to live together.
Hedgehogs do not do well in a wire cage. The cage must be a TOTE cage.
